MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Looking To Have 'Country Kind Of Relaxed Life' In Austin

June 27, 2013

Rooster of the Lubbock, Texas radio station 94.5 KFMX recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. You can now listen to the chat at KFMX.com.

Asked about his family's planned move to Austin, Mustaine said: "We're looking in Austin [but we haven't moved there yet]. We're still out in Fallbrook [California]."

He continued: "It's been a lot of travel this year so far, with MEGADETH touring and the recording and everything, so we haven't really had as much time to find the right place. 'Cause if we're gonna move to Texas, and by all accounts it looks like that's gonna happen, we wanna make sure that it's the right place, 'cause it's such a different state from one city to the next. To a degree, it's just as unique as California, because California has so many different climates and stuff — North Cal, Southern Cal and stuff like that. But we like Austin."

He added: "California has been good to us. It's just that we wanna go some place where we can just kind of let down and just have that country kind of relaxed life. Not like 'country music' kind of thing, but just… you know, where you can drive around in a pickup truck and not have to worry about profiling and stuff. I mean, California's got its great things — I love living here — but just the pace out here… I love it back there [in Texas], because it's quiet, it's cool, and the people are really friendly. I love the barbecue. And I'm gonna get lessons from [Austin-based guitarist] Eric Jonhson if it kills me."
